Gold doesn't always bring warmth. Against dark blue, it stands out. It makes a statement.
The Spirit of the Mask
The Hannya is the Noh theatre figure who embodies transformation—a woman consumed by jealousy to the point of crossing the threshold into the demonic. Horns, fangs, a fixed gaze. A human emotion pushed to its breaking point.
This Blue & Gold version is the cool counterpart to the Red & Gold. Gold is given the same central role—horns entirely gilded, eyebrows, eyes, teeth, cheek details. But here the background is a dark, dense, and deep blue-green, which radically alters the interpretation of the piece. Where red evokes rage and fire, blue suggests something older, calmer on the surface—and more dangerous beneath. The contrast between the dark blue and the luminous gold is more intense, more unexpected than on the red version.
The most sophisticated version of the Hannya collection.

FAQ & Interview
What is the difference with the Hannya Red & Gold?
Same model, same dimensions, same amount of gold leaf. Only the background changes — dark blue-green versus Aka red. The blue gives a cooler and more sophisticated atmosphere, the red is more immediate and aggressive.
Are the gilded details fragile?
No. The gilding is hand-painted and sealed under a protective varnish. Under normal indoor conditions, it will not deteriorate.
How do I care for this mask?
Dust with a dry brush or microfiber cloth. Avoid water and chemicals. The protective varnish ensures the longevity of the colors and gilding indoors.
