There are two faces to the Japanese wind. The face of the day—violent, red, raging. And the face of the night—cold, silent, creeping everywhere unnoticed. This mask is the second. Fujin in its most mysterious form—the wind that gives no warning, that passes, that vanishes.
What is the Blue Fujin Mask?
The Blue Fujin Mask is a full-face Japanese mask representing Fujin—the god of wind in Japanese Shinto mythology. The same god as the red version, but with a contrasting interpretation: where red expresses the raging storm, blue conveys cold wisdom, the mystery of the night wind, the force that flows unseen. Made of High-Resistance Polymer (PETG), hand-painted in my Breton workshop.
Blue Fujin: When the Wind Becomes Mystery
In Shinto mythology, Fujin is one of the primordial gods—he was there before everything else, dispersing the mists of the world to let the light appear. But the wind has many forms. The daytime wind that sweeps you away. The nighttime wind that caresses you. The mountain wind that isolates you. Blue is this facet.
In Japanese iconography, blue is associated with water, depth, and mystery—but also with the cold serenity that precedes a decision. It is the calm before the storm, not the storm itself.

His companion Raijin is always present in his shadow—thunder and wind are inseparable. If you want the two gods together, the Raijin & Fujin Duo Pack is €234 instead of €260.

Step What I Do 3D Printing High-definition PETG — oni expression, facial dynamism, every detail preserved Sanding By hand, perfectly smooth surface before painting Primer Uniform base for a deep and even blue Paint Acrylic blue in several layers — I work with cool tones and shadows to create depth Details Facial features painted with a fine brush Varnish Final protection, matte finish Checking Check under different lighting — blue reacts very differently depending on the light source
Blue is one of the most light-sensitive colors in my studio. Under warm light, it leans towards violet and takes on an almost mystical dimension. Under cool light, it becomes steely — hard, precise, unforgiving. I paint with both interpretations in mind, so the mask is interesting regardless of the lighting.
If you're curious about my choice of PETG, I explain everything here: Why I Work with PETG.

How to display it
The Blue Fujin Mask is more versatile than the red one — it fits well in a dark interior as well as in a more neutral space. Under warm light, it takes on a mystical dimension. Under cool light, it becomes mineral and contemporary.
Faced with the Intense Red Fujin Mask, it creates an immediate visual duality — the two states of the same god, day and night. For a more sedate presentation, the Hōju Base is its natural support.
Complete your collection
To explore Fujin's other state, the Intense Red Fujin Mask is its direct opposite — same god, maximum energy. And to bring Fujin and Raijin together at the best price, the Raijin & Fujin Duo Pack is €234 instead of €260.
FAQ
Q: What is the difference between Fujin Blue and Fujin Intense Red?
A: Same god, two opposing states. Intense Red is the raging storm—maximum energy, raw power. Blue is the night wind—cold, mysterious, elusive. Two interpretations of the same Fujin for two radically different atmospheres.
Q: Is blue suitable for contemporary decor?
A: Yes—it's the most versatile version of Fujin. In cool light, it becomes almost mineral, very contemporary. In warm light, it leans towards the mystical. It integrates well into a variety of interiors where red is more assertive.
Q: What is the production time?
A: Each mask is made to order in my workshop in Brittany. Please allow 14 business days before shipping. I'll send you a photo before shipping if you'd like.
Fujin Blue is the mask I often recommend first to those who are undecided—it's more difficult to paint than red, but it rewards its surroundings better. Explore the entire Dai Yokai collection—each piece tells a story that I enjoyed learning and even more enjoying sculpting.
