The Hannya collection

In Noh theatre, the Hannya mask portrays a woman transformed into a demon by jealousy, with an expression that combines anger and sorrow. Its horns, fangs and tense features inspire the designs shown here. To compare this face with ogre-like designs, explore the Oni collection.

I make these pieces in my workshop in Brittany, France: a 3D-printed PETG base, followed by sanding, primer, hand painting and varnish. These contemporary Dai Yokai designs include full masks and half masks, with classic, feline and skeletal faces.

Choosing your Hannya mask

Full mask or half mask

A full mask includes the entire face, forehead and horns. Mempo half masks cover the lower face and leave the eyes and forehead clear. Compare the stated dimensions with the space on your wall or stand. Each card shows the price for that particular model and its options, rather than a starting price for the whole collection.

Compare shapes and finishes

Traditional and Modern offer two approaches to the Hannya face. Neko Hannya adds feline features, Gashadokuro a skeletal shape, and Berserk a darker style. Hannya Style Wood is made from PETG, despite its name. Kezurata is the name of a textured Dai Yokai design.

Choose colour and texture for their visual effect. Noh colours depend on the role and play, while tattoo interpretations also vary. Dai Yokai finishes do not follow a universal colour symbolism.

Can these Hannya masks be worn?

Intended uses differ between models. Several full masks are mainly for display and photography. A half mask leaves the upper face clear, but this does not guarantee fit or comfort. For occasional wear, check the product’s guidance, openings and fastening. If you are unsure, contact me before ordering.

Which measurements should I check?

Compare the height, width and depth on each product page with the space on your wall or stand. For wear, weight and the interior shape matter too: external measurements cannot guarantee a good fit. If a measurement is missing, ask for it before choosing.

Why do some masks show a price range?

A range reflects the options available for that model. On the Neko Hannya half mask, black or gold teeth change the price. Open the product page and select your options to see the exact amount. Full masks and half masks are separate products.

When will my mask be shipped?
