Description
This Modern Hannya Mask keeps the horns, fangs and painful expression of the Hannya figure, but pushes the lines toward a more contemporary Dai Yokai look. It is less restrained than a classic theater mask and easier to place in a dark display.
Choose it if you want a Hannya that feels aggressive, graphic and handmade without going into a full horror prop. It works well for photos, tattoo studio walls and Japanese-inspired collections.
Visual style
The face relies on sharper lines, painted shadows and a direct stare. The finish is made to show relief clearly, so the mask keeps depth even under normal indoor light.
Hannya imagery is tied to jealousy, transformation and emotional violence. This mask uses that theme as visual inspiration, while staying a modern decorative piece made in a small workshop.
Where to place this piece
Hang it where the face can be seen frontally, or place it with other Hannya and Oni masks to build a stronger demon wall.
For the broader product family, see the Hannya masks. For background, read the Hannya mask guide.
Making process
Each piece is made to order in my Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then cleaned, sanded, primed, painted by hand with acrylic layers and finished with varnish.
The aim is to keep a visible handmade surface: shadows in the relief, small variations in the painted details and a finish that does not look like flat factory plastic.
Who it is for
It is for collectors, tattoo artists, fans of irezumi motifs and people who prefer a modern mask over a restrained traditional shape.
It can be worn for photos with a suitable setup, but it is mainly a decorative art mask and not made for long comfortable wear.
Before ordering
Use the photos, options and additional information on the page before ordering. If the piece is for a wall, booth, outfit or gift, measure the space first and choose the finish that fits the setting.
Shipping is tracked from France. As the piece is made to order, the usual making time is around 14 working days before dispatch.
Care and placement
Keep the piece indoors, away from long direct sun exposure and damp rooms. Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak it or use aggressive cleaning products on the painted finish.
