Description
The Modern Hannya Mask uses a sharper Dai Yokai sculpt than the separate Traditional Hannya Mask. Its angular brow, deeper lines and stronger painted contrast suit contemporary dark interiors, tattoo studios and graphic collections.
Choose marbled white for black veining and gold details, cracked white and red for a distressed contrast, black and gold for a darker finish, or glossy red for the strongest single-colour direction. Each option uses the same contemporary sculpt.
Visual style
Sharper lines, painted shadows and a direct stare keep the sculpt readable under normal indoor light. The hand-painted finish changes the colour direction without changing the dimensions, weight or base form.
Hannya imagery is tied to jealousy, transformation and emotional violence. This mask uses that theme as visual inspiration, while staying a modern decorative piece made in a small workshop.
Where to place this piece
Hang it where the face can be seen frontally, or place it with other Hannya and Oni masks to build a stronger demon wall.
For the broader product family, see the Hannya masks. For background, read the Hannya mask guide.
Making process
Each piece is made to order in my Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then cleaned, sanded, primed, painted by hand with acrylic layers and finished with varnish.
The aim is to keep a visible handmade surface: shadows in the relief, small variations in the painted details and a finish that does not look like flat factory plastic.
Who it is for
It is for collectors, tattoo artists, fans of irezumi motifs and buyers who prefer a sharper contemporary Hannya wall piece over the softer Traditional Hannya silhouette.
The mask is intended primarily for indoor display and photography. Any occasional wear requires a suitable fixing setup and a fit check; it is not protective equipment or intended for rough, prolonged wear.
Before ordering
Choose one of the four finishes before adding the mask to the cart. Current product data lists each finish at approximately 18.42 × 9.48 × 26.54 cm and 0.18 kg. The optional €15 stand is included only when selected before ordering.
Shipping is tracked from France. As the piece is made to order, the usual making time is around 14 working days before dispatch.
Care and placement
Keep the piece indoors, away from long direct sun exposure and damp rooms. Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak it or use aggressive cleaning products on the painted finish.
