Red and gold Oni mask among pieces in the Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany

Dai Yokai workshop

Handmade in Brittany

I work alone in my workshop in Brittany. Each mask starts with a 3D-printed PETG base, then I handle the sanding, primer, paint, varnish and finishing by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Are Dai Yokai masks handmade?

Yes. The base is 3D printed in my workshop, then everything else is done by hand: sanding, priming, painting, detailing and varnishing. These steps explain the slight variations from one piece to the next: every mask is unique.

Can Dai Yokai masks be worn?

Part of the collection is wearable, especially the Mempo half masks and articulated models, often used at conventions and for cosplay. The others are designed for display. If you plan to wear one, check the openings and fixing system specified for that model before choosing.

What material are the masks made of?

The base is printed in PETG, a strong and lightweight plastic that is more resistant to impact and heat than PLA. It is then sanded, painted and varnished by hand.

How long does preparation take before shipping?

For a made-to-order piece, allow no more than 3 weeks before shipping. This covers printing, painting, drying, finishing and packing. Carrier transit time is added afterwards.
