About this piece
The Karasu Tengu mask (烏天狗) is the bird form of the Tengu: a real crow's beak instead of the Dai-Tengu's long nose. More primal, closer to nature, tied to deep forests. It's the most approachable Tengu in the workshop.
Where it comes from
The Karasu-Tengu is often the servant or forerunner of the Great Tengu. Its bird form echoes Japanese animist beliefs where some birds were divine messengers. The crow (karasu) is sacred in Japan, tied to the god Yatagarasu.
