Description

The Traditional Tengu Half Mask is a smaller way to bring the Tengu subject into a display or outfit. It keeps the Japanese yokai mood without the full volume of a large long-nosed mask.

Choose it if you want a recognizable Tengu reference that is easier to store, style and display. It is a good bridge between Mempo and Tengu mask categories.

Visual style

The expression is carried by the lower-face shape, color and painted shadows. The handmade finish keeps the piece from looking like a plain costume accessory.

Tengu are mountain spirits in Japanese folklore. This half-mask is inspired by that imagery, but it is a modern Dai Yokai piece, not a traditional ritual mask.

Where to place this piece

Display it on a stand, shelf or wall hook, or use it in a costume setup where a full mask would be too large.

For the broader product family, see the Mempo half-masks. For background, read the Tengu mask guide.

Making process

Each piece is made to order in my Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then cleaned, sanded, primed, painted by hand with acrylic layers and finished with varnish.

The aim is to keep a visible handmade surface: shadows in the relief, small variations in the painted details and a finish that does not look like flat factory plastic.

Who it is for

It is for cosplayers, Tengu fans, tattoo artists and collectors who want a compact handmade Japanese mask.

It can be used for photos and short events with suitable fixing. It is not protective gear and should stay indoors when displayed.

Before ordering

Use the photos, options and additional information on the page before ordering. If the piece is for a wall, booth, outfit or gift, measure the space first and choose the finish that fits the setting.

Shipping is tracked from France. As the piece is made to order, the usual making time is around 14 working days before dispatch.

Care and placement

Keep the piece indoors, away from long direct sun exposure and damp rooms. Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak it or use aggressive cleaning products on the painted finish.

Frequently asked questions

Can this mask be worn?

A cord is included with the mask. Occasional wear for a photo or costume is possible after trying it on. Fit, comfort and field of vision depend on your face shape and must be checked before longer wear. Adding thin foam is recommended for longer wear, at your own expense: no foam or elastic strap is included.

Is it suitable for wall display?

Yes. The Traditional Tengu Half Mask works well on a wall, shelf, display case, tattoo studio wall or convention booth. Keep it indoors and away from damp rooms.

How is it made?

It is made to order in the Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then sanded, primed, hand-painted with acrylic layers and varnished.

Is each piece identical?

No. The shape stays the same, but sanding marks, painted shadows, color depth and varnish can vary slightly because the finish is done by hand.

Is it a good choice for a tattoo studio?

Yes, if the Traditional Tengu Half Mask matches the mood of the studio. It gives a clear Japanese folklore reference without needing a large installation.

How can I display it?

You can hang it on a wall, place it on a suitable stand, use a shelf or build a small display area with books, prints or other Japanese-inspired objects.

Can I request a color variation?

If a color or finish option is shown on the product page, you can choose it before ordering. For a specific request, contact me first so I can confirm feasibility.

Which mask should I choose if I hesitate?

Choose the Traditional Tengu Half Mask if its expression, color and format fit your display first. If you hesitate, compare it with the linked category before ordering.
