Description

The Traditional Tengu Half Mask is a smaller way to bring the Tengu subject into a display or outfit. It keeps the Japanese yokai mood without the full volume of a large long-nosed mask.

Choose it if you want a recognizable Tengu reference that is easier to store, style and display. It is a good bridge between Mempo and Tengu mask categories.

Visual style

The expression is carried by the lower-face shape, colour and painted shadows. The handmade finish keeps the piece from looking like a plain costume accessory.

Japan’s official tourism site describes tengu as mythical creatures linked to mountain landscapes and depicted with human and bird-like characteristics. This red half-mask is a modern Dai Yokai interpretation inspired by that imagery, not a historical, protective or ritual mask.

Where to place this piece

Display it on a stand, shelf or wall hook, or use it in a costume setup where a full mask would be too large.

Compare the handmade Mempo half-mask collection, read the Tengu mask guide, add the separate Japanese mask display stand, or compare the multi-colour Tengu Mempo Half Mask.

Making process

Each piece is made to order in my Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then cleaned, sanded, primed, painted by hand with acrylic layers and finished with varnish.

The aim is to keep a visible handmade surface: shadows in the relief, small variations in the painted details and a finish that does not look like flat factory plastic.

Who it is for

It is for cosplayers, Tengu fans, tattoo artists and collectors who want a compact handmade Japanese mask.

This half-mask is sold primarily for indoor display and short staged photography. WooCommerce records an approximate weight of 100 g but does not confirm dimensions, internal attachment, fit or field of vision. It is not protective equipment. Contact Dai Yokai before ordering for prolonged or movement-heavy wear.

Before ordering

Is each piece identical?

No. The compact Tengu form and red finish remain consistent, while sanding marks, shaded recesses, colour depth and small painted details can vary slightly. Which mask should I choose if I hesitate?

Choose this product if you want one compact red Tengu half-mask. Choose the Tengu Mempo Half Mask if colour options matter, or compare the Tengu collection if you prefer a full long-nosed mask. Dimensions and wearable fit are not confirmed, so base the decision on the documented format and gallery.
