Description

The Neko Hannya Half Mask combines feline lines, fangs and a tense mouth in a compact lower-face sculpt. It is a contemporary Dai Yokai hybrid design, not a historical Hannya mask or a piece of samurai armour.

Choose burgundy, blue or black, then select black teeth for €50 or gold teeth for €60. The open upper-face format gives a different styling direction from the full Neko Hannya and Nekomata masks without making a comfort guarantee.

Visual style

The sculpt focuses on the feline nose, cheeks, open mouth and long fangs. Hand-painted shadows reinforce the relief, while the selected colour and teeth finish define the final contrast.

Japanese folklore includes cat-yokai figures such as Nekomata and Bakeneko, but Neko Hannya is a Dai Yokai design name. This half mask is a contemporary decorative hybrid, not a traditional ritual mask or historical Mempo.

Where to place this piece

Display it on a stand, shelf, wall hook or cosplay setup. It also works beside Nekomata, Kitsune and Hannya masks.

For the broader format, see the Mempo half-masks. Compare it with the full Neko Hannya Mask and the separate Nekomata Mask. For background, read the Neko Hannya guide.

Making process

Each piece is made to order in my Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then cleaned, sanded, primed, painted by hand with acrylic layers and finished with varnish.

The aim is to keep a visible handmade surface: shadows in the relief, small variations in the painted details and a finish that does not look like flat factory plastic.

Who it is for

It is for cat-yokai fans, photographers, tattoo artists and collectors who want a smaller handmade lower-face mask with a distinct feline identity.

The mask can be used for photography or careful costume styling only with a suitable fixing setup and a fit check. It is not protective equipment and is not intended for rough or prolonged wear.

Before ordering

Choose one of six configurations: burgundy, blue or black with black teeth (€50) or gold teeth (€60). Current product data lists a weight of 0.1 kg; exact dimensions are not shown. Gallery photos currently show the burgundy finish with black teeth. The optional €15 stand is included only when selected.

Shipping is tracked from France. As the piece is made to order, the usual making time is around 14 working days before dispatch.

Care and placement

Keep the piece indoors, away from long direct sun exposure and damp rooms. Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak it or use aggressive cleaning products on the painted finish.
