About this piece
The Kuchisake-Onna mask takes the slit-mouthed woman, one of the best-known yokai in Japanese folklore. This articulated version keeps a moving jaw and a bare face: a clean silhouette that lets the eyes and the cut of the mouth do the talking.
What you get
- 1 articulated Kuchisake-Onna mask with a moving jaw
- The finish you pick from the menu (hand-painted) or the raw version
- Material: PETG
- Cord included
- Option: display stand (+15 €)
- Made to order in Brittany
Choosing a finish
Four hand-painted finishes: white black marble, cracked white and red, cracked red and black, cracked gold and black. Each colour is built up in several coats of acrylic, then varnished. Cracked and marble finishes vary slightly from one piece to the next, which is normal on hand-painted work.
Raw version, 60 €
The raw version is the PETG print straight off the machine: unsanded, unprimed, unpainted. It's for people who want to finish and paint the mask themselves. You get the piece and the moving jaw, without the finishing work. It's not the same product as a painted mask, which is why it's 60 € instead of 120 €.
How it's made
For the painted versions, every piece is 3D-printed, reworked by hand, sanded, primed, painted and varnished in my workshop. The jaw is set to stay mobile and keep an expressive look when the mouth opens.
Wear it or display it
The format works for conventions and shoots, and hangs on a wall without taking up space. The moving jaw gives the Kuchisake-Onna effect on or off the face, worn or sitting on its stand.
