Description

This Articulated Kuchisake-Onna Mask with Long Hair is built around the slit-mouthed woman legend. The hair and jaw construction make the piece feel more complete in photos than a simple lower-face prop.

Visual style

The mouth is the center, but the hair changes the silhouette and makes the mask read as a character. The painted finish keeps the face from becoming a flat costume accessory.

Kuchisake-onna is a Japanese urban legend. This mask is a Dai Yokai horror interpretation for photos, cosplay styling and display, not a traditional ritual object.

Making process

Each piece is made to order in my Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then cleaned, sanded, primed, painted by hand with acrylic layers and finished with varnish.

The aim is to keep a visible handmade surface: shadows in the relief, small variations in the painted details and a finish that does not look like flat factory plastic.

Who it is for

It is for cosplayers, horror collectors, tattoo artists and fans of Japanese urban legends.

The lower jaw is a separate articulated section designed for visual movement. Its response depends on fit and handling, so do not assume it will automatically mirror every wearer’s mouth. Keep the hair clear of the moving section and handle both gently. This is a decorative and costume piece, not protective equipment or a mask for rough, prolonged wear.

Care and placement

Keep the piece indoors, away from long direct sun exposure and damp rooms. Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak it or use aggressive cleaning products on the painted finish.
