Description
The Kuchisake Mempo Half Mask takes the slit-mouth idea from Kuchisake-onna and compresses it into a lower-face format. It is direct, unsettling and easier to style than a full head or full-face horror mask.
Choose it if the mouth is the part of the character you want to show. It works well with dark clothing, wigs, photo shoots, horror displays and Japanese urban legend themes.
Visual style
The teeth and cut-mouth line carry the mask. The hand-painted shadows keep the mouth readable without turning the piece into a cheap gore prop.
Kuchisake-onna is a Japanese urban legend, often translated as the slit-mouthed woman. This half-mask is a decorative and cosplay-inspired interpretation, not a ritual or traditional object.
Where to place this piece
Use it on a stand, wall hook, cosplay shelf or horror display. In a tattoo studio, it works near yokai, yurei and urban legend references.
For the broader product family, see the Mempo half-masks. For background, read the Kuchisake-onna legend guide.
Making process
Each piece is made to order in my Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then cleaned, sanded, primed, painted by hand with acrylic layers and finished with varnish.
The aim is to keep a visible handmade surface: shadows in the relief, small variations in the painted details and a finish that does not look like flat factory plastic.
Who it is for
It is for cosplayers, horror fans, tattoo artists and collectors who want a Japanese urban legend piece in a compact format.
It can be worn for photos and short events if the fixing suits you, but the fit and breathing comfort should be checked before long use.
Before ordering
Use the photos, options and additional information on the page before ordering. If the piece is for a wall, booth, outfit or gift, measure the space first and choose the finish that fits the setting.
Shipping is tracked from France. As the piece is made to order, the usual making time is around 14 working days before dispatch.
Care and placement
Keep the piece indoors, away from long direct sun exposure and damp rooms. Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak it or use aggressive cleaning products on the painted finish.

Frequently asked questions
Can this mask be worn?
A cord is included with the mask. Occasional wear for a photo or costume is possible after trying it on. Fit, comfort and field of vision depend on your face shape and must be checked before longer wear. Adding thin foam is recommended for longer wear, at your own expense: no foam or elastic strap is included.
Is it suitable for wall display?
Yes. The Kuchisake Mempo Half Mask works well on a wall, shelf, display case, tattoo studio wall or convention booth. Keep it indoors and away from damp rooms.
How is it made?
It is made to order in the Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then sanded, primed, hand-painted with acrylic layers and varnished.
Is each piece identical?
No. The shape stays the same, but sanding marks, painted shadows, color depth and varnish can vary slightly because the finish is done by hand.
Is it a good choice for a tattoo studio?
Yes, if the Kuchisake Mempo Half Mask matches the mood of the studio. It gives a clear Japanese folklore reference without needing a large installation.
How can I display it?
You can hang it on a wall, place it on a suitable stand, use a shelf or build a small display area with books, prints or other Japanese-inspired objects.
Can I request a color variation?
If a color or finish option is shown on the product page, you can choose it before ordering. For a specific request, contact me first so I can confirm feasibility.
Which mask should I choose if I hesitate?
Choose the Kuchisake Mempo Half Mask if its expression, color and format fit your display first. If you hesitate, compare it with the linked category before ordering.
