Description

The Kuchisake Mempo Half Mask combines the slit-mouth idea from Kuchisake-onna with a horned, Mempo-influenced face sculpt. As the gallery shows, it frames the eyes, nose and mouth rather than covering only the lower face. It is a static hybrid design, not the articulated Kuchisake model.

Choose white for the colder, ghostlike finish or red for the stronger cracked contrast. The eye openings and cut-away mouth keep the expression readable in photographs, but fit, fixing and comfort still need to be checked for any occasional wear.

Visual style

The horns, teeth, eye contours and cut-mouth line carry the mask. Hand-painted shadows keep the white and red finishes readable without presenting the piece as a mass-produced gore prop.

Kuchisake-onna is a Japanese urban legend, often translated as the slit-mouthed woman. This half-mask is a decorative and cosplay-inspired interpretation, not a ritual or traditional object.

Where to place this piece

Use it on a stand, wall hook, cosplay shelf or horror display. In a tattoo studio, it works near yokai, yurei and urban legend references.

Compare this static horned sculpt with the Articulated Kuchisake-Onna Mask, which has a moving jaw. For another armour-influenced hybrid, see the Hannya Mempo Samurai Half Mask, or browse the Mempo half-masks. For background, read the Kuchisake-onna legend guide.

Making process

Each piece is made to order in my Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then cleaned, sanded, primed, painted by hand with acrylic layers and finished with varnish.

The aim is to keep a visible handmade surface: shadows in the relief, small variations in the painted details and a finish that does not look like flat factory plastic.

Who it is for

It is for photographers, horror fans, tattoo artists and collectors who want a static Kuchisake-onna and Mempo hybrid in a compact display format.

Any occasional wear requires a suitable fixing setup and a fit check. The mask is not protective equipment and is not intended for rough or prolonged wear.

Before ordering

Choose white or red before adding the mask to the cart. Both colours cost €60 and current product data lists a weight of 0.1 kg; exact dimensions are not shown. Gallery photos show both finishes and the optional €15 display stand.

Shipping is tracked from France. As the piece is made to order, the usual making time is around 14 working days before dispatch.

Care and placement

Keep the piece indoors, away from long direct sun exposure and damp rooms. Dust it with a soft dry cloth. Do not soak it or use aggressive cleaning products on the painted finish.

Frequently asked questions

Can this mask be worn?

This mask is made mainly for display, photography and careful costume styling. Any occasional wear requires a suitable fixing setup and a fit check; it is not protective equipment or intended for rough, prolonged wear.

Is it suitable for wall display?

Yes. The Kuchisake Mempo Half Mask works well on a wall, shelf, display case, tattoo studio wall or convention booth. Keep it indoors and away from damp rooms.

How is it made?

It is made to order in the Dai Yokai workshop in Brittany, France. The base is 3D printed in PETG, then sanded, primed, hand-painted with acrylic layers and varnished.

Is each piece identical?

No. The shape stays the same, but sanding marks, painted shadows, colour depth and varnish can vary slightly because the finish is done by hand.

Which colours are available?

Choose white or red. Both options use the same static horned sculpt and cost €60.

How is this different from the articulated Kuchisake-Onna mask?

This Kuchisake Mempo is a static horned sculpt. The separate Articulated Kuchisake-Onna Mask has a moving jaw and a different silhouette.

What size and weight is the mask?

Current product data lists a weight of 0.1 kg. Exact dimensions are not currently shown on the page and should be confirmed before ordering if fit or display space is important.

Is this a traditional Mempo or protective mask?

No. This is a contemporary PETG art mask inspired by Kuchisake-onna imagery and armour-influenced forms. It is not antique armour, a historical reproduction, protective equipment or certified face protection.
